So, if you’re thinking of visiting the area but just need that little bit of an extra nudge to make up your mind, here’s what to see and do, as well as how you can make the most of your trip with the right place to stay.

Why and Where You Should Visit

For anyone that lives in a city where car horns are more often heard than birdsong, it can be a welcome relief to escape from it all, whether it’s for a long weekend or an even longer week. Many people even choose to completely leave their hectic lives behind and come to North Wales to live for peace of mind, and you could hardly blame them.

The towns are bustling, but not in the way that you would be used to if you’re hailing from London. There’s a sense of togetherness that you can’t really appreciate on your morning commute in the big city, but after a short time in the many wonderful areas of North Wales, you will no doubt come to appreciate the community spirit.

For the shoppers, Llandudno and Bangor are simply musts. The former, filled with its own intriguing history and architecture, has plenty of different shopping complexes, meaning that you will doubtlessly be able to find what you need to make your wallet a little bit lighter. Bangor has a youthful vibe to it, which means that some of the shops might be on the slightly trendier side, but as it’s a city, you won’t be stuck for variety. There are also great shopping spots in areas that might be off the beaten track with boutique choices that you might not find anywhere else, so be sure to keep an eye out.

For those with adventure on the mind, well, you’re almost spoiled for choice. The many mountains and castles that make up the land are unmissable; the castles of Conwy and Caernarfon are some of the grandest in the United Kingdom. As for the mountains, you can tackle the intimidating Snowdon or play it slightly safer and travel up the Great Orme in Llandudno by cable car. The general area of Snowdonia, including the Snowdonia National Park, is not to be missed by those looking to get back in touch with nature. A long day’s walk might not be the perfect holiday for some, but for those who already have their hiking boots packed, it’s an essential part of taking a holiday.

If you have the kids in tow, you aren’t going to be hard pushed to find something to entertain them. There are an abundance of steam trains in North Wales that will be able to take you around the beautiful region via the leisurely route. GreenWood Forest Park, ZipWorld, Welsh Mountain Zoo, Gypsy Wood Park, Electric Mountain, and Bounce Below are just a few of the attractions that are sure to keep the young ones happy during your visit.

There are so many towns and villages that make up North Wales and make it so great that it would take all day to go through them. However, Portmeirion is one of the most distinctive areas you’re ever likely to visit as the colourful centre for the arts sticks out amongst the landscape. Elsewhere, Betws-y-Coed is a sight to behold, offering a real sense of catharsis as you explore its many nooks and marvel at its crannies. Other areas of interest include Colwyn Bay, Llanberis, Conwy, and the Isle of Anglesey.

Where to Stay

Just like you aren’t pushed for things to see and do in the local area, you won’t ever struggle to find somewhere to stay. Many of the region’s best hotels and B&B’s rank with the elite on popular holidaymaking site TripAdvisor, meaning that you have a lot of worthwhile options.

If you’re going to be staying in one of the many coastal towns in the area, you have plenty of options when it comes to hotels. Whether you’re after the cheap and cheerful comforts of a chain hotel or the eccentricities of a family run business, there’s plenty to pick and choose from. Be sure to research the best one for you, there’s nothing like a lumpy mattress to ruin a holiday!

Thinking of staying for more than a weekend with the whole family? It might be worth investing some time in researching the caravan parks in North Wales to find yourself your next home away from home. Affordable and full of the amenities that you’re used to at home, a modern caravan is the perfect getaway and are usually located near busy towns, so you’re never left feeling too isolated. What’s even better is that, if you take up the option of staying at a caravan park, you’re likely to meet some likeminded families and forge some new connections on your travels. Many caravan parks offer the options to either rent or outright buy a caravan, so be sure to weigh up what works best for you. Our recommendation is Tan Y Bryn Caravan Park Pydew or CLC world promotional holidays
